Relay For Life

Hi all! We are so excited! We are joining a Relay For Life team again this year! It's the all night walk - "Cancer Never Sleeps". We will honoring my Grandpa Mathews, who died of Stomach Cancer, and Jess' Grandpa Ewell, who is an Prostate Cancer Survior. :)

At the ceremonies, Grandpa E will be honored, with other surviors, and then they are the first to take a lap around the park, with bagpipes playing. There is a nice dinner for them, and then beautiful luminaries (white paper sacks with sand and a candle in them) that will line the track to make an awesome glow the whole night through. Someone from our team will be on the track all night long, a symbolism that Cancer Never Sleeps, and that we want to find a cure!

The event is June 21st (Friday night to Saturday morning). I will post more info as it becomes available, but I wanted to post this:

Our team is doing a garage sale to raise funds... if anyone has items they are wanting to get rid of and would be willing to donate them for our garage sale that would be so awesome! It will be in the next few weeks...so let me know asap!

ALSO... if you have someone you would like honored by a luminary... let me know ASAP and we can get you a bag. You decorate it however you would like and we will have it lit on the trail to encourage and inspire the walkers. The American Cancer Society reccomends a $5 donation for each bag you want to decorate...which is a great help to the cause! Help us line the trail!! Honor your loved ones touched by cancer! We will gladly adopt them as our own, and honor them as a team!

Also, if you would like... come that night! Each team also has things available to sell, raffles for quilts, and many other great things! They have live entertainment, and loads of laughs! It will be an awesome night! (My kids LOVED it last year... and sleeping in the park was quite a treat!) *grin*

Hey, I would like to buy a couple of those bags in honor of my Grandma and my Grandpa. We also have some things we could donate for the garage sale. Let us know when it is and where to drop it off.

when and where will that walk be? That sounds really great! We've got cancer survivors in my family too. I was thinking about getting my fam together to honor our cancer people.
